A Brief history behind Fresh Ground Recording Studio
In 1983 Mark Antaky opened "Valley Center Studios" in Van Nuys, Ca. along with a friend David Jenkins.
Valley Center Studios started up with two rehearsal/showcase rooms.
In 1985 VCS had expanded and now included a total of five rehearsal rooms.
By 1987 one room was converted into a 24 track recording studios and 4 pre-production/rehearsal rooms.
In 1990 another room was remodeled therefore adding a second 24 track recording studio
2003: Valley Center Studios business was sold and was leased to recording artists Elliot Smith.
2004: Elliot Smith passed away and his managers Joel Graves and Robert Cappadonna continued the operation of the recording studio now named "New Monkey Studio".
2006: Mark Antaky moved to Ventura, Ca. and set up a private studio nicknamed "Song Writers Studio".
2012: Studio is renamed "Fresh Ground Sound/Records " and opens up business to the public. The studio is set up for recording with 3 isolation rooms and a Pro Tools and SSL console. The main tracking room is also set up now to accommodate rehearsals for bands.
2014: Long time friend Dave Jenkins moves to Ventura county and starts recording and producing at Fresh Ground Sound.
